VIDEO: Matthew McConaughey wishes Longview Lobos good luck in state title game

“Man, so many people are so proud of you.”

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - With the Lobos returning to the AT&T Stadium for their chance at that state championship, Former Longview High School student Matthew McConaughey took a moment to share words of praise and encouragement to the team.

Longview ISD shared the video from McConaughey on YouTube Friday morning. In the video, the award-winning actor wished the team good luck as they prepare for Saturday’s title game. He also reminds them to take a moment to reflect before dominating on the field.

“I want to make sure you take some time to get your mind right, your souls right," McConaughey said.

McConaughey graduated from Longview in 1988.

The Lobos will be playing Beamont West Brook for their next chance at the UIL State Championship title. This will be the fifth time the Lobos have made it to the title game.

McConaughey ended his video with some simple words of encouragement:

"Be in the moment, go win it, we love ya.”
