EAST TEXAS (KLTV/KTRE) - The National Weather Service issued a series of alerts late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning as severe storms moved through the area.
In Smith County, dispatchers say County Road 472, near Lindale has been shut down due to flooding. FM 2868 is also under water at Saline Creek Crossing in southern Smith County.
Longview police have confirmed, as of 9:25 a.m., waters have receded on Pliler Precise Road and the roadway is re-opened.
Police in Kilgore also reported flooded roads. Drivers have been cautioned not to drive if they don’t have to.
The Highway 135 overpass in Kilgore is barricaded due to flooding. Kilgore police say Willow Springs Road between Moccasin Trail and Woodway Street is also closed due to high water.
Also in Smith County, crews responded to a report of a fire at an oil well on County Raod 2142 between Lake Tyler East and Troup.
According to officials with Lufkin’s Texas Department of Transportation office, there are numerous flooded roads in Deep East Texas. In Angelina County, they include FM 706, FM 324, FM 2021, FM 2109, FM 1818. Trinity County: FM 1280 in various locations, FM 2262 at Alabama Creek, and FM 358 at Dominy Road.
Lufkin Police are reporting high water at Southwood Drive near Hoshall, the Frank Avenue underpass at Angelina Street, the Loop 287 underpasses at S. First Street, and Tulane Drive. The northbound U.S. 59 flyover is closed until the Tulane underpass clears.
According to a post on the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office page, all the major highways and farm-to-market roads in in the county are now open again. Sheriff Jason Bridges provided a list of county roads that are closed in some places because they have water over them.

According to TxDOT the flooded roads in Polk County include FM 942 East at McManus Creek, FM 352 at Fox Creek (Dry Creek), Business 59 in low areas, and FM 942 West at Long Tom Creek.
Rhonda Oaks, a spokeswoman for TxDOT, said that the inside southbound lane of U.S. Highway 59 in Timpson (Shelby County) is closed due to concrete damage caused by the recent flooding. The closure is at the railroad underpass near Bear Drive.
No timeline for re-opening that section of Highway 59 has been determined, Oaks said. She urged motorists to reduce speed in that area.
In Houston County, FM 227 is the only road that remains under water at this time, Oaks said.
