Polk County Sheriff’s Office asks for public’s help finding church burglary suspect

POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating the person who broke into the Hickory Grove Church on Dec. 22 and took a safe from the main office.

According to a post on the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, an unidentified suspect entered the church on Dec. 22 and took a safe from the main office. The suspect walked into the woods behind the church and opened the safe. Its contents were removed.

“The suspect was wearing gloves, a dark hoody, and blue jeans,” the Facebook post stated. “It is unknown if he left on foot or in a vehicle.”

Anyone with any information on the suspect’s identity is urged to contacted Crime Stoppers at (936) 327-STOP or Det. David Mitchell with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 329-9027. Tips made to Polk County Crime Stoppers are anonymous, any information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
