NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Wanting a change of pace, SFA men’s basketball Coach Kyle Keller got his team out of Nacogdoches a little earlier than normal for their mid-week clash with Nicholls State.
The team loaded up and left Nacogdoches a little before noon Monday. The trip only takes a little over five hours but Keller thought his kids had been on campus enough.
“Look, Nacogdoches is paradise to us,” Keller said. “We love it here but our guys have been here since Dec. 18 when we got back from Baylor and we have practiced a lot minus the few days for the holiday. I think it is time to get away and let the team have some fun.”
The team arrived in New Orleans last night where they took in a NBA game. The team was planning on exploring the city Tuesday before getting back on the road to Nicholls State.
SFA enters their first Southland road contest with an 8-5 record (1-0) and coming in off a conference opening win over Southeastern Louisiana, 65-60.
Last year, the Lumberjacks beat Nicholls twice, once in conference and once in the Southland Conference Tournament.
