ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Angelina County deputies have already peppered their new moving targets with dozens of rounds by now, but it doesn’t mean county commissioners couldn’t give the official ‘thumbs up’ to the donation.
Captain Alton Lenderman spent Tuesday afternoon showing off his new moving target system and how the system works. Fast forward to Thursday, county commissioners were ready to give deputies full approval to fire away.
The moving target system was donated to the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office by Overhead Door Company of Lufkin. For some time, training has been focused on what’s called static training, meaning the target does not move. The new system is supposed to help officers train on their feet, specifically for instances when suspects armed with a weapon arming charging towards or away from the officer.
