Nacogdoches police: Man shot in leg; detectives working to ID suspect

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A 30-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh after another man fired multiple shots at him in an incident that occurred on Clarice Street early Monday evening.

According to a press release, Nacogdoches police detectives are actively working to identify the suspect in the case.

Nacogdoches PD officers were dispatched out to a home in the 1700 block of Clarice Street at about 5:34 p.m. in reference to a gunshot victim. The officers found a man outside the residence who had had been shot in the upper leg.

The man, who was later identified as Joel Garcia, of Nacogdoches, was transported to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, and he is believed to be in stable condition.

“At this time, it appears a male suspect was outside the residence near the street and discharged a firearm multiple times at the victim, striking him once in the leg,” the press release stated. “The suspect then fled in a white, four-door car.”

The case is still under investigation, and the press release stated that updates will be issued as new information is found. Anyone with information about the shooting incident is urged to call the Nacogdoches Police Department at (936) 559-2607.
