Gift of Love: Jordan and Jaylon

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - For brothers only a year a part, their favorite pastime is a little friendly competition.

Whether that be on the basketball, through a dance-off, or joking with one another, they both agree they are each other’s best friend.

“Sometimes I will get on his nerves,” said Jordan, 16. “That’s because I’m his older brother and sometimes he’ll be getting on mine.”

Jaylon, 15, said he wouldn’t have it any other way. “He’s the only family member I got right now and because he’s my brother,” said Jaylon. “It’s better than being farther away because we were separated for a long time.”

For about a year during their time in protective care, Jaylon and Jordan were placed into different facilities.

“I just didn’t know anyone or anything because I’m used to having my brother around,” said Jordan.

It was through that experience the two said they realized they never wanted to be apart again.

As a diabetic, Jordan hopes to be able to go to college to become an endocrinologist. His goal is to help kids just like himself. Jordan said his dream college would be, “Texas Tech.”

As for Jaylon, his biggest dream is to find a family who is willing to take in both he and his brother. The qualities he said he hopes for in a family are, “loving, kind, and warm-hearted.”

Despite a difficult childhood, Jaylon and Jordan maintain an unwavering optimism.

“Out of all the people in the world, there's got to be one person that wants us,” said Jordan.
