SFA Regents interviewing presidential search firms

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - SFA Regents have begun the task of searching for a university president, following the death of Dr. Baker Pattillo. Regents conducted a special telephone meeting with the purpose to select a presidential search firm.

Following an executive session meeting, board chair Brigettee Henderson announced careful consideration will be given on their selection.

“The Board of Regents has considered several national search firms. And has had a very good and helpful discussion about each of these firms,” said Henderson to those present after the executive session.

Following the meeting, Henderson described what the regents are looking for a presidential search firm.

“Most importantly, the firm that we're looking for is their experience in executive, presidential hirings. And the second thing we're really looking for is someone who understands us as Texans and residents of the East Texas area."

The selected presidential search firm announcement will come at the winter meeting at the end of this month. Henderson says the national candidate search will take at least six to nine months before selecting a person for the job.

Interim president Dr. Steve Westbrook will continue to serve.
