NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Nacogdoches Police Department arrested a 30-year-old after he allegedly fled from a traffic stop late Sunday night and wrecked his vehicle by crashing into a utility pole on West Austin Street.

Justin Tremane Simon, of Henderson, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a state-jail felony evading arrest with a vehicle charge, two felony warrants from Rusk County, and a Class B misdemeanor possession of marijuana charge. No bond amounts were set for his charges.

According to the Nacogdoches PD media report, the incident occurred at about 10:34 p.m. Sunday night. Sgt. John Berry with the Nacogdoches Police Department said that an NPD officer tried to stop a red 2002 Toyota for a traffic violation.

The driver, who was later identified as Simon, fled, and later wrecked his vehicle by crashing it into a power pole in the 300 block of West Austin Street.

Berry said Simon wasn’t injured in the wreck. Simon was arrested at the scene and taken to the county jail.
