JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The National Weather Service in Lake Charles, Louisiana, has issued a flash flood warning for north central Jasper County near the Angelina River.

The warning will remain in effect until 9:15 a.m. Monday.

The NWS issued the warning after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced that the Sam Rayburn Dam and reservoir spillway discharge of 15,500 cubic feet per second on the Angelina River will continue.

'Low-lying areas will be flooded by these authorized spillway releases with additional releases likely this week," the NWS statement said.

The NWS statement said that flood waters will be moving down the Angelina River to B.A. Steinhagen Lake.

“If you are in low-lying areas below the Sam Rayburn Dam and reservoir, follow instructions provided by your local emergency officials,” the statement said. “Do not attempt to drive across flooded roadways.”
