CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Crockett Police Department arrested a 32-year-old man Wednesday night in connection to allegations that he sexually assaulted a male acquaintance at knifepoint.
Juan Carlos Perez, of Crockett, was arrested and charged with first-degree felony aggravated sexual assault, and third-degree felony assault - impede breath or circulation.
According to a press release, Crockett police officers responded to a residence on East Loop 304 to take a sexual assault report. The victim told police that he was attacked at a Crockett home.
During the incident, the victim was allegedly punched in the mouth by a male acquaintance. The blow to his mouth knocked out three of his teeth, the press release stated.
At that point, the suspect, who was later identified as Perez, held the victim at knifepoint and sexually assaulted him, the press release stated. After the alleged assault, Perez refused to let the victim leave or call anyone. He also allegedly took the victim’s cell phone.
“The suspect then ordered the victim to lay down in the bed with him where he held him at knifepoint for several hours until the victim finally convinced the suspect to allow him to leave for work,” the press release stated.
Once the victim got to work, he contacted the Crockett Police Department to report the alleged sexual assault.
“This was not a random act of violence,” the press release stated. “The victim knew the identity of the suspect.”
Perez was arrested at his job Wednesday night, the press release stated.
“After Perez was arrested, he cooperated with detectives and provided details of the incident which were consistent with what the victim reported to police,” the press release stated.
In the press release, the Crockett Police Department thanked the Houston County District Attorney’s Office for the assistance it provided during the investigation.
