LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin developer is in the midst of renovating an old apartment complex as part of an effort to make the downtown area more attractive.
Mark Hicks said he has owned Pinedale Manor for a few years but has made a big push for renovation over the past four months. He said the complex is the “flagship apartment complex” in the downtown area.
“We’ve bought a few homes in the area too,” Hicks said. “And we’ve been renovating them and trying to make the downtown area and the drive into it more attractive.”
Hicks said he has completed renovation at the complex for three of the six buildings. He said the complex, which was built in the 1940s, had fallen into a state of disrepair.
Hicks said rent has not gone up a significant amount for tenants and they have been able to continue living at the complex while renovations are underway.
