It has been another day of cloudy, damp, cold, and overall, just gloomy weather for the Piney Woods in Deep East Texas. We will have a chance for some more pockets of drizzle and light showers this evening and overnight as temperatures hover in the upper 30's. Even though our temperatures will get close to freezing on Tuesday morning, most of the precipitation should be out of here, meaning I don't see any problems on area roadways when it comes to icing concerns.
Monday night will be cloudy and cold with a 40% chance of drizzle and/or light showers. Lows in the lower 30's. Winds will be out of the north at 10 mph.
Tuesday will start off cloudy before skies clear out by the late morning hours. Still chilly, however, with highs expected to top out in the middle to upper 40's. Winds will be northerly at 10 mph.
The cold air will remain in place across Lufkin and Nacogdoches for the next few days. However, the one bright spot is that the sun will return, allowing for some slightly warmer afternoon high temperatures. In fact, we will be back in the 50's by the latter part of the week, which is a big improvement over the 30's we have been experiencing as of late. Our next trough of low pressure will move through on Friday, providing us with a good chance of some rain and thunderstorms.
