A noticeable spring warm-up has taken place across East Texas and it appears that above normal temperatures will remain with us for quite some time. Yes, it will certainly feel like late spring in the Piney Woods this week as partly to mostly clear skies will allow for lots of sunshine and temperatures climbing into the middle 80's.
On Thursday evening, we will have a slight chance of a few showers and thunderstorms drift into Lufkin and Nacogdoches as an upper level disturbance passes by to our north. Outside of this disturbance, rain chances will be pretty void until we get into the late weekend and early next week time-frame.
Tuesday night will be partly cloudy and mild. Lows near 60. Winds will be light and out of the east at 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny and warm. Highs climbing into the middle 80's. Winds will be out of the southeast at 10 mph.
As we head into the weekend, a powerful, but slow moving storm will move into the Plains. It appears our chances for rain and thunderstorms in our area will hold off until sometime late Sunday and into Monday of next week. Due to the strength of this low pressure system, we might actually see a cold "cool" front actually make it all the way through the Piney Woods on Tuesday. If it does clear the area, then we could see some slightly cooler temperatures and a nice drop in the humidity.
