2/28/2011 Lufkin Police Report

Criminal Mischief       1600 Block Sayers Street

At approximately 12:05 AM on Monday, February 28, 2011, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that at approximately 11:30 PM on February 27, 2011, an unidentified suspect damaged property at outside of the complainant's residence, located in the 1600 block of Sayers Street in Lufkin.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an unidentified suspect driving a white Suburban drove the Suburban into the complainant's mailbox and trash can and then fled the area.  The report stated that the complainant provided a description of the vehicle and the vehicle's license plate, and that the incident was referred for further investigation.

Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle       800 Block Keltys Street

At approximately 11:50 AM on Sunday, February 27, 2011, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that an unidentified suspect stole the complainant's vehicle from the parking lot of a bar located in the 800 block of Keltys Street in Lufkin.  According to the report, the complainant stated that he parked his vehicle, a blue, 1982 Chevrolet light truck, in the parking lot, left the vehicle's ignition key inside of the vehicle, did not lock the vehicle, and went into the bar, and when he returned to the parking lot his vehicle was missing.  The report stated that Angelina County Sheriff's Office deputies located the vehicle abandoned on Jerri Street near Sayers Street in Lufkin.  The report stated that and that the vehicle was returned to the complainant and that the incident was referred for further investigation.

02-27-2011    Arrest       1600 Block Hill Street

At approximately 10:00 AM on Sunday, February 27, 2011, Lufkin Police Department officers arrested Michael Wayne King (Black / Male / 35 / Lufkin) at a residence located at 1607 Hill Street in Lufkin for the offenses of Assault, a Third Degree Felony, Stalking, a Third Degree Felony, and Criminal Trespass, a Class A Misdemeanor.  According to the report, on January 29, 2011, Michael King was warned by a Lufkin Police Department officer and the resident at 1607 Hill Street that he was prohibited from returning the that address; Mr. King was informed that returning to the residence would result in his arrest for the offense of Criminal Trespass.  Since that date, the resident has reported that Mr. King has returned to the residence several times and Lufkin Police Department officer have arrested Mr. King at that residence for the offense of Criminal Trespass.  According to the report, on February 27, 2011, Mr. King appeared at the residence and, when the resident refused to allow him to enter the residence and stated that she was calling law enforcement, Mr. King used both of his hands to grab her by her throat and push her against a wall; the resident stated that she could not breathe and that Mr. King threatened to Kill her.  Michael Wayne King was booked into Angelina County Jail for the offenses of Assault, Stalking, and Criminal Trespass.

 02-27-2011    Theft               100 Block Eleanor Street

On Sunday, February 27, 2011, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that between 12:00 AM and 6:30 AM that date an unidentified actor(s) stole property from outside of the complainant's residence, located in the 100 block of Eleanor Street in Lufkin.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the actor(s) attempted to steal a Honda scooter from the front yard of the residence but were unsuccessful, and that the actor(s) stole a red and blue Huffy brand twenty-inch boys bicycle from the yard.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

    James Henderson's defense attorney, Stanley Sokolowski, started off the third day of court by questioning the state's witness, Investigator Bill Rulland. The cross examination lasted most of the morning and even a little into the afternoon.     More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.
