National Guard Called In To Help With Rita Aftermath

So, who is going to clean up all the scattered debri from hurricane Rita?

The Texas National Guard is in Lufkin for the next few days helping with the removal of debris on roadways. The group had been in New Orleans cleaning up the damage from hurricane Katrina until Governor Perry called them back.

The devastation over from both storms is unsettling even to the experienced soldiers, but a mission they will accomplish.

"With a real world mission, this is the National Guard and what we do. We respond to natural disasters and we are the force for the governor. We are to respond to things to help the state." says Lt. Col. Tracy Norris.

The combined national guard units are also helping with getting relief to evacuees.
