Belt Has Made a Decision

Hudson pitcher Brandon Belt has made a decision.

Belt told us he will not be playing in the Boston Red Sox organization and he will not attend the University of Texas either.

Back in June, Belt was selected in the 11th round of baseball's amateur draft. He and his family were unhappy because Belt was projected to be selected earlier.

The former Hudson Hornet pitcher signed a letter of intent to play college baseball for the Texas Longhorns back in 2005.

On Monday, Belt decided he would attend San Jacinto Jr. College instead.

So, he plans on playing for San Jac one season and hoping to raise his stock and enter the draft again next summer.

The Red Sox own the rights to Belt until one week prior to next June's amateur draft.

Belt will room with Tanner Hines at San Jac. Hines, a former Hudson infielder, originally signed with Hill J.C.
