The search for a Houston County man is over. Fifty-four year-old Harold Sissom was found dead Wednesday night. He had been missing since leaving for work near Crockett last Thursday morning. He left home around 4:30 a.m., but never showed up at his job.
Texas EquuSearch had been helping his friends and family members look for him. Texas EquuSearch is a volunteer organization, but its members are well-trained experienced searchers. At the request of law enforcement or relatives of a missing person, they help out by covering a lot of ground on foot, four-wheelers and horseback.
Search Coordinator Frank Black said, "I try to put myself in the place of the family of the person that's missing and say 'hey, if I was missing or my family member was missing, I'd want somebody here to help me real quick and find that person'."
Houston County sheriff's investigators said a car belonging to 54-year-old Harold Sissom was found by Texas EquuSearch in a large culvert under water on FM 230 near Lovelady. An autopsy has been ordered.
