Junior League of Lufkin hosts "Camp Get Fit"

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Getting excited about living healthy is the goal of this year's "Camp Get Fit,"  hosted by the Junior League of Lufkin at First United Methodist Church.

Kids will not only get to exercise and learn about ways to stay active but also how to eat better.

They'll even be taught how to cook healthy snacks.

Caron Cook says with 50 kids in "Camp Get Fit," she hopes to really make a difference.

"We realize that not only is (childhood obesity) a problem nationwide, but it's a problem here in our own community.  So we brought back Camp Get Fit to try to reach at least some of the children in this community, and help them make those better choices."

"Camp Get Fit" is in its second year after a ten year hiatus, and the Junior League hopes to continue it in the future.
