Food Bank anticipates Storm Needs

News Release:

(East Texas, Texas) August 31, 2008 - The East Texas Food Bank sent food and water to East Texas shelters that are housing Hurricane Gustav evacuees.  The trucks will deliver over 12,000 pounds of food and over 2,400 bottles of water to eight shelters in East Texas. 

"Our goal is to feed the hungry in any type of crisis," said Robert L. Bush, Executive Director of the East Texas Food Bank.  "We have a plan of action with emergency officials, our partner agencies and network of sister food banks ready to respond quickly and efficiently."

The East Texas Food Bank is one of four food banks that serve the Gulf Coast Region who are pre-staged with food products from Feeding America, formally known as America's Second Harvest - The Nation's Food Bank Network, to respond to disasters.  The East Texas Food Bank is a member of Feeding America.
