Katie Green

Katie Green is the newest member of the East Texas News weather team. She joined the KTRE-TV news staff in August 2002. Prior to coming to Lufkin, she interned for 18 months with Chief Meteorologist Mark Scirto at KLTV, our sister station (also in the Liberty Corporation group) in Tyler, Texas. While in college, she interned for two years at KWTV Channel 9 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with Chief Meteorologist Gary England.

Ms. Green’s hometown is Troup, Texas – just up the road a piece, as they say. She graduated with an Associates Degree in Physics from Tyler Junior College in Tyler. Katie went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.

In her free time, Katie enjoys playing tennis, watching sports, listening to music, playing the piano and, of course, storm chasing! Her favorite book is Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. She also enjoys Stephen King and Michael Crichton books.
