Crockett Mayor Wayne Mask has told the East Texas News that Sgt. Michael D. McKay has been appointed as interim police chief.
Last week, Crockett Police Chief Jimmy Fisher turned himself in to the Houston County jail after a grand jury handed down indictments for three charges of credit card abuse and three charges of fraudulent use of identifying information.
Mayor Mask says the criminal proceedings against Chief Fisher could take several weeks or months. He went on to say that the appointment of the interim chief is necessary to ensure leadership continues in the Crockett Police Department until the current criminal charges against Chief Fisher are concluded.
