Wells library doubles in size

Posted: Updated:

WELLS, TX (KTRE) - The Rube Sessions Memorial Library will officially re-open Tuesday morning.

The library has doubled in size and now includes 6,000 books. The librarian, Ellen Hamlett, said they wanted to bring the library to the 21st century. They also have six computers with an Internet connection.

About 50 people from the community made their way out to the ribbon cutting along with some Texas politicians.

"There's a quote from Elizabeth Barrett Browning that said anyone that has God and books will never be without friends and I love the fact that you have people with vision," said Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX.)  "Rube Sessions had vision, the Temple Foundation had vision and all the people from this area will benefit."

"We're just thrilled to be able to bring this to the City of Wells to expand the Library to help with the knowledge and learning of students," said Hamlett.

You can go check out a book at the renovated library. They are open Tuesday through Saturday.
