HOLLYWOOD, CA (EAST TEXAS NOTE) - East Texas native Michael Sarver hit the bottom three contestants last night on American Idol. It was the Round Two elimination. By the show's end Michael was one of two contestants left standing. He dodged the bullet and Alexis Grace was eliminated, making her the third contestant sent home this season.
A total of 31 million votes were received Tuesday night for all 11 contestants. America gave Sarver enough "yes" votes to keep him going. It should have been a big vote of confidence, especially after Tuesday night's critique of Sarver by the judges.
Randy Travis was this week's mentor, so each contestant selected and performed a song made popular by Opry members. The first singer to take the stage was Sarver with his rendition of 'Ain't Goin' Down 'Til The Sun Comes Up' by Garth Brooks. All four judges said his performance fell short of their expectations, however, America's votes kept Sarver in the running.
The Top 10- Michael Sarver, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert, Lil Rounds, Scott MacIntyre, Megan Joy Corkrey, Anoop Desai and Matt Giraud.
The competition heats up another few degrees as those Top 10 finalists take the stage again on Tuesday, March 24. Immediately following, America has another chance to share its voice and vote for their favorite finalists.
