Lion's Club kicks off Lufkin Rodeo

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Lufkin Lion's Club began their annual rodeo preparations.

Events for this years rodeo include bareback riding, bronc riding, barrell racing, calf roping, and team roping.   The proceeds from the big round-up all go to charity.

"It's the best livestock, the best cowboys, the best production, everything from lasers to pyrotechnics to the fact that we're going to show you the best cowboys and livestock," said Rodeo Announcer Mike Mathis.

The four nights of the rodeo begin on April 22 and go through April 25.   The Nacogdoches County Rodeo begins this Thursday at the Nacogdoches County Expo Center.   Gates open at 6 p.m.   The muttin bustin' competition begins at 7 p.m. and runs through March 28.
