Lufkin Police arrest man for lewd behavior at park

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police have arrested a man who they say was caught masturbating in the parking lot of a Lufkin park.

Brian Scott Johnson has been charged with indecency with a child.

According to an e-mail sent out by Judy Maddux, executive director of Lufkin Youth Baseball, to the coaches of the league, one of the coaches caught the man in his Toyota 4-Runner of the parking lot at Morris Frank Park with his pants down masturbating.

According to the e-mail, the coach began beating on the driver's side window and the suspect pulled his pants up. The coach then saw the passenger's window was open so he ran around to that side and tried to grab the suspect's keys before the suspect drove off.

"I want you as coaches to meet with your parents and alert them that things like this are a possibility at the ballpark, especially with the playground as unsafe as it is," Maddux wrote in the e-mail. "I have been just as guilty as the next to let mine run all over the park and over to the playground but this is a wake-up call that our county is full of child molesters, pedophiles and perverts that want to only do harm to our children.  It is solely our responsibility to see to it that Morris Frank Park Baseball Complex remains a safe, fun, family place."

Tonight on KTRE East Texas news at 6, we will have an interview with the coach who caught the alleged suspect.
