Man gets probation for indecency of girl

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A man is on probation for five years for attempted indecency of a child.

A Nacogdoches County jury was deadlocked after five hours before the judge ordered them to continue deliberating. It was then the district attorney's office reached a plea agreement with the defendant.

Pearson pled guilty to the charge and has to register as a sex offender for the next 15 years.

"I am satisfied with the defendant's sentence based upon his lack of a prior criminal record and the particular facts of the offense," District Attorney Nicole LoStracco said. "Although any case of this nature must be considered serious, fortunately for our victim this was a single incident involving contact over her clothing. The victim, her family and her supporters were in attendance through the entirety of the proceedings and are supportive of the plea bargain. The victim is relieved that the defendant pled guilty and accepted responsibility for the emotional distress he caused her."
