Governor appoints Lufkin man to state board

AUSTIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin to the Governing Board of the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) for a term to end January 31, 2015.

The TDHCA Governing Board sets policy for the Department and addresses a broad range of issues relating to affordable housing, homeownership, and community services. This appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.

"I am delighted to welcome Tom Gann as the Governor's newest appointee to the TDHCA Board and know he will make a positive impact on the Department's many programs and services," said Michael Gerber, TDHCA Executive Director. "He brings with him a wealth of housing knowledge and experience, and the Department looks forward to working with him as we continue to address the challenges facing the state in providing a stable, decent home to all Texans."

Gann is president of Gann Medford Real Estate Inc., a full service brokerage firm in Lufkin. In addition, he is president of Tom Gann & Associates, a residential and commercial construction company. He is a past director of the East Texas Mortgage Finance Corporation and past Board member of the Angelina and Neches River Authority. A former chair of the Real Estate Center Advisory Committee at Texas A&M University, Gann previously served as a member of the Texas Strategic Military Planning Commission. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and received both a Batchelor's and Master's degree in Business Administration from Baylor University.
