Grand jury indicts two for sex assault of a child

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina County grand jury gave two men indictments with aggravated sexual assault of a child Tuesday.

Marquis Raymond Stewart, 19, is indicted with two counts of aggravated sexual assault and two counts of indecency of a child.

Stewart was arrested on May 15 after it was reported he had sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl.

According to the arrest affidavit, the victim told police that Stewart had been staying at her residence for several weeks and slept on the couch. She said Stewart would come into her bedroom at night and rape her on numerous occasions.

Stewart admitted to having sex with the victim, the affidavit stated.

Jose Gomez, 32, was indicted for one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency of a child.

Gomez was arrested for allegedly touching an 8-year-old boy in inappropriate places.

According to the arrest affidavit, Gomez was living with the victim's aunt and touched the victim on three separate occasions on Nov. 1.
