Rescue workers recover diver's body

GARRISON, TX (KTRE) - The East Texas News has learned Nacogdoches rescue workers pulled Larry Coach's body from a Garrison lake at about 6:20 p.m.

A Nacogdoches dive team spent yesterday afternoon and evening searching for the body of Larry Coach, 64, of Dallas, who was trying to clear a drainage pipe underwater in a private lake at a Garrison residence.

According to Taylor Jones of the Nacogdoches County dive team, Coach was sucked into the pipe.

The rescue workers were able to locate the body in the pipe with an underwater camera.

Jones said the workers are waiting to receive an airbag which will be used on one side of the pipe to stop the suction which will allow Coach's body to rise to the surface.

Jones said the body should be recovered between 3 and 4 this afternoon.

About 30 rescue workers are on scene.

Jones said the pipe is 24 inches wide and the water is three feet above level, creating a dangerous suction underwater from the pipe.
