Sarver's journey: Cowell's endorsement may have sent Jasper native to final

In the semi-final, Michael Sarver performed "I Don't Want To Be" by Gavin Degraw, which received mixed reviews from the judges.

Randy Jackson thought he made the wrong song choice, while Paula Abdul thought he did well, but switched microphone hands too often.

But it was Simon Cowell's comments that may have pushed Sarver into the final round when he said he hoped America pushed him through, because he's a good guy.

And Sarver did move on, along with Alexis Grace and Danny Gokey as the first three of the final round.

Follow KTRE.com every weekday through April 7 as we chronicle Sarver's journey on American Idol.

Sarver will be honored in Jasper April 7 and KTRE will be there providing full coverage of the event.
