Centerville students suspended for protesting

CENTERVILLE, TX (KTRE) - A group of students at Centerville High School, a 1A school between Apple Springs and Groveton, were suspended Friday after they walked out of their class and staged a protest.

The students were showing their opposition to the school board's decision last night to not renew a contract for a teacher.

"I'm tired of it. I mean it's outrageous how we can't even get a proper education worrying about what's going to happen next," said Centerville Junior Trey Sailer.

The students said since they are suspended they will miss the TAKS test this week and they were told they will get zeros on all of their work. But to them, it was worth it.
