KILGORE, TX (KLTV)- Kilgore's Country Tavern opened in 1939 during the Great East Texas Oil Boom, and thanks to one special family, County Tavern's sweet, succulent ribs still tempt East Texans and visitors alike.

Toby Pilgrim literally grew up at The Country Tavern. His grandmother, Lois Mason, bought the tavern in 1972, his mother worked as a waitress, and his dad presided over the cooking.

It's not just East Texans who eat at Country Tavern. Celebrities like Larry Hagman, Robert Duvall, Sandy Duncan, and George Bush have all feasted there. It's said that the menu at the Country Tavern is short and the ribs sweet.

Although the tavern serves a delicious brisket, it's the meaty pork ribs that have made the establishment famous.
