NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A world away from home, Roxana Enica misses Romania.
"It's very difficult," said Enica. "I still get homesick a lot."
A freshman from the Ukraine, Alina Shazhko can feel out of place in East Texas.
"Everything is different," said Shazhko.
When these European neighbors hit the tennis court at Stephen F. Austin, it's home sweet home.
"We've been playing since my first match here.," Shazhko says. "I like it a lot."
"We're international and can understand each other better," said Enica. "We've been through the same things and I think it's very important on the court and off the court."
The duo took different paths to S.F.A., but are sharing a path to success.
"Since the first time she came here we practiced together and we started playing doubles together and everything was going perfect."
Enica and Shazhko have won nine of their last eleven matches. In a tough season for the Ladyjacks team, these two Europeans have brought some excitement. When they eventually head back to Europe, they wouldn't mind keeping the team together.
"We are a good team together," said Enica. "The style she (Alina) plays fits me the best and I think we have a good chance even after college to play in some pro tournaments together."
