AUSTIN, TX (KTRE) - Damion James has watched several Texas teammates leave school early for the N.B.A. draft.  The Nacogdoches native is ready for his pro shot.

The Texas junior announced today that he will declare himself eligible for the N.B.A. draft.  James told Texas sports dot com, "Ever since I started playing basketball I've dreamed of playing in the N.B.A. Now I have a chance to live out my dream."

James will not hire an agent, making it possible that he could return to Texas for his senior season. If he doesn't like his draft stock, James would  have to withdraw his name by June 15th.

If James is finished at Texas, he had an impressive Longhorn career.
