NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Early voting began today for city and school board elections. In Nacogdoches, the city commission race, including the mayoral position is expected to draw a good turnout. The mayoral candidates have opposing viewpoints on locating a federal prison in Nacogdoches. That one issue could very well determine how a person will vote. Nacogdoches residents are also electing commissioners for the northwest and northeast wards. Early voting continues until May 5 at the recreation center. Early voting hours are from eight until five. On May 4 and 5th the hours are extended from seven to seven. Election day is May 9th at the TJR Elementary School.
