DIBOLL, TX (KTRE) - Diboll's Nikki Greene has received one of the highest honors in basketball.  The Ladyjacks senior has been invited to tryout out for the Under 19 United States National Team.  Greene, who is headed to Penn State next season, will head to Colorado Springs on May 14th to train with the very best in the country.

If Greene makes the team, she will compete in the U-19 FIBA World Championships this summer in Thailand.  Diboll Head Coach Laura Knight says it's a once in a lifetime chance.

"What a chance," said Knight.  "She (Greene) gets to go to Colorado and workout in the Olympic training center. What more could you want? Today she was out back on the court with us again. She works as hard as she can every day. She's real excited about the chance to do it. People don't get that opportunity."

The 2009 FIBA U19 World Championship features 16 national teams comprised of athletes 19-years-old or younger (born on or after Jan. 1, 1990) that qualified through their FIBA zone tournaments. Included in the field of nations are: Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Japan, Lithuania, Mali, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, Tunisia and the USA.
