COPY-TxDOT reschedules frontage road work for May 5

LUFKIN, TX (TxDOT) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has rescheduled the work on the Loop 287 westbound frontage road for next week. Motorists are encouraged to make plans to use a different route to reach their destinations.

According to TxDOT, a traffic switch on the westbound frontage road (in front of Target, IHOP and the Lufkin Mall) is now planned for Tuesday, May 5, weather permitting. The contractor, Zachry Construction Corp., will begin rebuilding the intersection at Tulane Drive which requires moving the traffic. All frontage road traffic will be moved to the new concrete pavement lane so work on the intersection can progress. Traffic will not be allowed to make right turns onto Tulane Drive from the frontage road. Nor will right turns be allowed onto the frontage road from Tulane Drive. However, access will remain for the adjacent driveways to businesses. Motorists must use alternate routes as this work will close the Tulane Drive intersection for about four weeks.
