Missing Shelby County man found

SHELBYVILLE, TX (KTRE) - Several law enforcement agencies spent Friday night and most of Saturday searching for a missing Shelby County man. After the hours of searching with dogs, a helicopter, 4-wheelers and on foot Jeremiah Jones was discovered by a passerby.

The search was concentrated on Farm to Market Road 417, just north of Shelbyville. His truck was found at the Calvary Baptist Church across the street from his home. That's where the 25 year old was last seen. Shelby County Sheriff Newton Johnson says Jones was last seen around 3:30 Friday afternoon walking toward the Tenaha Creek bottom across from his home. About 24 hours later he was seen walking down a dirt road where someone gave him a lift back home.

"This morning we received assistance from the Hudson fire and rescue unit that had the trailing dogs," explained Johnson before Jones was discovered.  "I also had the DPS helicopter out of Houston come down and assist us in the hunt."  Sheriff Johnson also said heavy rain and brush has made the search difficult.

A tired sheriff said he's glad that "the boy is alright".
