LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The robotics technology was used to perform surgery on a heart and a lung for the first time in Lufkin. Doctors said they are thrilled to be able to use the cutting edge technology to make patients more comfortable.
"We were able to do really delicate work in a very small space and it's less traumatic for the patients," said Memorial Medical Center Dr. Brent Campbell.
Dr. Taylor Pickett at Memorial's Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery Center said, "It was just the shared enthusiasm. The O.R. was a buzz just from everyone excited about the prospect of using a robot in the chest."
