Police investigate pair of robberies

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police are investigating a pair of unrelated attempted robberies over the past couple days.

A clerk at the Polk's convenience store on Hwy. 103 in Lufkin said a man wearing a mask came into the store just before midnight Tuesday and demanded money, saying he did not "want to have to hurt someone."

The suspect fled on foot with the money, the police report stated. He is described as a black male wearing a black hoodie and jeans.

At 5:50 a.m. Tuesday, a complainant said he was stopped at the intersection at Pershing Drive and Southwood Drive when a white four-door car drove around and stopped in front of him. A male suspect got out of the passenger side with a tire tool and walked toward the vehicle.

The complainant said he tried to back up when the suspect hit the driver's side window with the tire tool, then tried to get in the complainant's vehicle. The complainant then tried to run over the suspect but the suspect ran away.

The driver of the car drove off, the report stated.
