Aspen Power prepares to finish contested case hearing

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Environmental Protection Agency forced the Aspen Power to halt construction at its plant in Lufkin several months ago.

The company's original request to reverse the EPA's order was denied.  However, Owner Danny Vines is hopeful they will come out successful in the contested case hearing.

"I'm very excited about our project. It has been, as I've said before, a learning experience from my standpoint and that knowledge is knowledge that will be important as Aspen moves forward," Vines said.

He said if they are re-issued an air quality permit, they could resume construction as early as mid-June.
