Melton services set

Services for former Mississippi Mayor Frank Melton have been set.

The body of Melton, who was once CEO of KTRE, will lie in state at Jackson City Hall Monday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at noon, in Jackson, and a graveside service will be held in Pearland.

The Melton family is asking for memorials to be sent to The L.S. Sanders YMCA, 806 North Farish Street, Jackson, MS, 39202. The phone number for the YMCA is 601-948-3643.

    Students who entered the Angelina County Youth Fair displayed the goats they've been raising for the past year on Thursday. Goats were judged on their broad shoulders, chest, their ability to be well balanced from head to tail and their muscle. They were divided into 5 weight classes ranging from light to heavy.
