KTRE investigates happy meal lyrics controversy

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Enrique Fernandez does not hear what the fuss is all about. "Maybe somebody's got another ear," said Fernandez, Sound Tech.

Huddled close to the speakers, Fernandez listened intently to the lyrics several times. "You can actually tell it's looking or hooking," said Fernandez.

His co-worker wasn't convinced. Angel Ortega put his musically inclined ear to the test. "I don't know it's so hard to tell," said Ortega.

Ortega said he can understand why the lyrics might have startled some parents. "And that's the first thing you hear, and they're like oh my gosh, that's a cuss word," said Ortega.

After a third listen, he can almost hear the alleged profane word. "With the looking around, yeah, it's going to sound kind of like that," said Ortega.

Ortega is a singer and said there's a musical explanation for this audio mix-up. "He's probably behind so he had to say that real quick," said Ortega. "Tired of looking, you can break it down or when you say it quick that sounds like the f-word."

After listening to the lyrics over and over, Ortega had his final decision. "If you listen to it more and more, I think he's saying looking around," said Ortega.

***We should also point out that the lyrics are not indecent in how they are written or sang, but are being heard as such by some people.
