Local students headed to Globals for Destination Imagination

HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) - Huntington Middle School Destination Imagination students advanced from the Regional and State DI competitions and they are now headed to the Global competition.

They will compete with teams from around the world in Knoxville, Tennessee. They had to develop a program that would get the community involved. So, they created "Fat to Phat." In their skit, they encourage schools to have healthier food choices.

"I don't know when I thought about it, I was so like, whoa, this is like the last, the third round of this whole thing, so just going to Globals is hard so that's how it was just amazing to me," said DI team member Brennan Duncan.

The students had to put together all the costumes and props on their own. They leave for the competition early Monday morning.

They will be competing with about one thousand teams.
