Donated rescue boat will serve Sam Rayburn users

ETOILE, TX (KTRE) - Prompt rescues are on order for Lake Sam Rayburn following a very generous donation to the Etoile Volunteer Fire Department.  A 21-foot rescue boat now belongs to the fire department. It's a gift from the Texas Parks and Wildlife. The state agency recently purchased a new boat with Homeland Security funding, but the boat being replaced still has a lot of service in her, so they donated it to Etoile.

"It's rigged out with lots of equipment," said Andy Sanders, Etoile Volunteer Fire Department Chief.  "We have 5 certified divers here in the department. We have a defibrillator here on the boat. We have air way management equipment here on the boat. Trauma equipment too. We can actually tow." The boat is also equipped for 911 calls.

The volunteers have no boundaries. They'll use the boat in all of Sam Rayburn which expands into Nacogdoches, Angelina and Nacogdoches counties. Lake visitors should expect to see it on the water this Memorial Day weekend.
