County confirms LHS student had H1N1

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A county official said Thurday that the confirmed case of H1N1 was that of a Lufkin High School student.

The virus was first repored as probable on May 12. An Angelina County case was ruled as confirmed for H1N1 on the Texas Health Department Web site on Wednesday, but nobody with the county health department could confirm it was the same case. Angelina County Health Department Director Sharon Shaw today said the confirmed case was the as the probable case.

Shaw said the doctor of the student was notified and assisted with the student and its family.
