Autopsy: Cain Street death a homicide from gunshot wound

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - An April Cain Street death has been ruled by a forensic pathologist as a gunshot wound homicide.

Jerod Jernigan, a 21-year-old Lufkin man, was found dead on April 22. Lufkin Police say they have many leads, but have not named a suspect.

Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace R.G. Bowers ordered an autopsy on Jernigan's death, and it was completed on May 7 by Dr. Tommy J. Brown.

Lufkin Police spokesman Lt. David Young said police sent forensic evidence for testing but it did not provide them everything they needed for an arrest.
