Boy involved in Friday night wreck dies

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A 4-year-old boy involved in a Friday night wreck just north of Diboll died Thursday morning, a spokesperson with the Department of Public Safety said.

Christopher Gross, whose mother, Crystal Thomas, also died in the wreck, was declared dead at 5:23 a.m. Thursday, according to DPS.

The DPS report states Vicente Gonzalez, 30, of Corrigan, hit a vehicle driven by Willie Lacy, 48, of Alto. Thomas and Lacy died at the scene. Lacy's son, Jovair Thomas, 7, is in stable condition.

Gonzalez is now charged with three counts of intoxicated manslaughter and one count of intoxicated assault. He was last listed in good condition in a Houston hospital with a broken arm, leg and pelvis, Trooper Josh Senn said.

A DPS spokesman said Gonzalez blood-alcohol level was tested at .228. The legal limit is .08.
