Art Camp brings out creativity in local kids

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The 12th annual Summer Art Camp is going on at the Museum of East Texas in Lufkin.

Four to 14-year-olds enjoyed creating art Wednesday in classes like Multimedia, Watercolor, Art Smart, Drawing with Scissors and Chalk Art. Their work was hung on walls in the museum and they weren't afraid to jump in and get a little messy.

One instructor said he is thrilled to be able to participate in the camp.

"The little kids, I just like interacting with them. They're just a riot. They come up with the strangest things sometimes," said Art Camp Instructor Stanley Bohon.

The camp continues until August 14. You can still sign up to go to the camp at the Museum of East Texas and scholarships are available through the generosity of the Museum Guild.
