Woman dies from injuries suffered in Polk County wreck

POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Houston woman died Thursday from injuries suffered in a motorcycle wreck Monday night in Polk County, according to a DPS spokesman.

Jennifer Lee Brown, 38, died at 1:15 p.m. in a Houston hospital.

She was a passenger of a motorcycle driven by Bruce Gilchrist, 56, of Porter, a reserve deputy with the San Jacinto Sheriff's Office. Gilchrist is listed as in serious condition with head trauma at a Houston hospital, the spokesman said.

According to DPS, Gilchrist was travelling southbound at 9:15 p.m. Monday on U.S. 59 in a construction zone when he attempted to switch into an uneven lane and lost control, skidding across the pavement and ejecting himself and Brown, about two-tenths of a mile south of FM 1988.

Trooper Ramey Bass investigated the wreck.
